- Having an octet structure, it would seem that krypton would not combine with
- other elements. But in the 1960's, it was discovered that it would combine
- with fluorine. Molecules of krypton consist of only one atom. About 20 radio-
- active isotopes have been created by nuclear fission of urainium and other
- elements. As a gas it is used in certain florescent lamps and special flash-
- lamps used in high-speed photography.
